The Wim Henderickx Legacy Project was initiated in 2023 within the framework of the Pilot Projects for Artistic Heritage Legacies of the Department of Culture, Youth and Media of the Flemish Community. HERMESensemble vzw submitted the application to sustainably inventory, preserve and further disclose Wim Henderickx’s oeuvre and archive. Diederik Glorieux acted as principal researcher and worked closely together with Bea Steylaerts and Hannes Vanlancker.

For one year, intensive work was carried out to map Wim Henderickx’s physical and digital archive. The team researched and organised, among other things, his extensive oeuvre, sketches and notes, annotated scores, educational materials, books and scores, his instrument collection and other documents that provide insight into his artistic practice. The physical archive was systematically described and linked to an overview of his oeuvre; the digital archive was also organised and supplemented with relevant documents.

An important outcome of the project was the development of a database and an extensive works catalogue, forming the basis for the further disclosure of Wim Henderickx’s oeuvre. The project was carried by HERMESensemble and received substantive support from CEMPER vzw, the Heritage Library of the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, the LABO XIX&XX research group and Huniyāgar vzw.

The project aims not only to preserve Wim Henderickx’s archive and oeuvre, but also to make his work accessible to future generations of researchers, performers, students and musicians. The knowledge and documentation gathered form a foundation for further research, new performances, critical editions and the lasting continuation of Henderickx’s artistic and pedagogical legacy.
